Get a free concept website
for your business.
I build a working concept of your site from information that is already public, put it on a private link, and you tell me what to change. No quote, no obligation. If you like it, I build the rest of the system around it — and if you don't, you keep the files.
Barry Grottis
Founder & Lead Developer
I built the systems I need for my own work — the website pipeline, the AI assistant, the internal automation — then turned them into services. That's why the free concept is genuinely free.
More about meWhat you get, at no cost
- A working concept built from your public information
- Mobile, tablet, and desktop versions
- Technical SEO foundations set up properly
- Draft wording you can correct
- Images that are properly licensed and sourced
- A private preview link, visible only to you
- The source files, if you want them
And what it is not
Saying this plainly is the point. The concept is a demonstration, not a production system.
- A custom domain name
- Hosting and ongoing maintenance
- Ongoing edits and new pages
- Contact forms, booking, or payment
- A website chatbot
- Custom software
- A search or visibility retainer
If your website is not producing enquiries, the problem is usually one of three things. Here is how I would start looking for it.
Built To Be Answered
Customers increasingly ask an AI assistant which business to use instead of typing a search. A site that states clearly what you do, where you are, and how to reach you is far easier for those systems to describe accurately.
Fast On Real Devices
Most people will judge your business on a phone, on mobile data, often while doing something else. Every concept site I build is checked on real screen sizes before anyone sees it, and I will show you the numbers rather than promise a figure.
Honest, Findable Detail
Your name, address, phone, services, and hours stated the same way everywhere. Inconsistent information is one of the most common reasons a business gets left out or described wrongly in search and AI results.
From a free concept to a working system
Each step is the next natural move, and they run in a deliberate order. Where something is still being built, I say so — I would rather turn work away than take it and let you down.

You tell me the business
Name, and a website or social page if you have one. There is no long brief and no discovery call before you see something.
I build a real concept
From public information only. No invented testimonials, no made-up contact details, no filler — and I check it on mobile before you see it.
You tell me what is wrong
It is a working site, not a mockup. Say what is inaccurate, missing, or badly worded and I revise it based on what you actually said.
Files, or we keep going
Take the source files and stop there, or talk about putting it live properly. Either answer is fine and neither is a trap.
Things you can actually check
I do not have client testimonials or case study results to show you, because I have not done paid client work yet. So here is what is real, and you are welcome to verify any of it.
CookTwo
A membership and booking platform with a customer-facing app and a staff dashboard, built to run membership and class bookings. It is a real working system, not a concept. I would describe it honestly as a live product rather than a proven business.
See it runningThe website pipeline
The automated system that produces the free concept sites you see here. It only uses verified public information, refuses to invent contact details or testimonials, tracks image licensing, and checks every build on mobile before it goes anywhere near a human. It has produced dozens of builds — some of which I then had to fix, which is exactly why I do not call it fully autonomous.
The thing behind the free offerThe assistant on this site
The customer-service assistant answering questions in the corner of this page. It knows Byte Digital's own services, captures the details of anyone who wants to talk, and hands over to me rather than inventing an answer. It is a working demonstration of step three — which is why I am looking for a pilot business to build the real version for.
Try it — bottom rightWhy there are no testimonials here. Most sites your competitors are showing you have invented results in them, because paying for real ones is awkward. I would rather start with less and let the work speak. If that makes me look less impressive than a competitor with a wall of made-up numbers, fine — you will find out who was right once you have seen the actual work.
Start with a free concept website.
No quote, no proposal, no obligation. Tell me your business and I will build you a working concept on a private link, so you can judge the work instead of the pitch. If you want the files afterwards, they are yours.

Start freeI am Christchurch-based, so these pages are written from actual local knowledge rather than a template. That is also why the free concept works the same way whether you are in Riccarton or Ruakura.
Here are the answers to the things Christchurch business owners ask us most about web design, SEO, and digital marketing.
I build a working version of your site using information that is already public about your business, and put it on a private link that only you can see. You tell me what to change, I revise it. If you want the files, they are emailed to you. If you never want to hear from me again, that is a legitimate outcome and I will not chase you.
Because the first thing is nearly free for me to produce — I built the pipeline that generates these sites, so one costs me some compute and a short review. Spending that to find out whether we are a fit beats a sales call, and it means you are judging real work rather than a promise about work.
The build is automatic and usually quick. You review a first version, send back what you want changed, and I revise it. Most people are reviewing something within a day or two of asking. If you are in a hurry, say so and I will prioritise it.
No. It is generated on a platform subdomain and shared through a private, unlisted link that is excluded from search engines and from my sitemap. Nothing is published, nothing is attached to your business name publicly.
No, and the free concept exists so that neither of us is committing before you have seen something. If later you want the site live and maintained, want the visibility work, or want something custom built, those are separate conversations with separate quotes. You are never locked in — the domain would be registered in your name and you can take it to another provider whenever you like.
No, and I would be careful of anyone who says otherwise. What I can do is remove the technical obstacles, make sure your business information is accurate and consistent, write content worth citing, and measure where your traffic actually comes from. Those are the parts you control. Rankings themselves are not something any honest person can guarantee, and I will not pretend otherwise to win the work.
Yes. I am Christchurch-based, which is why the local pages here are genuinely specific instead of generic filler. But the work is entirely remote and I work with businesses across New Zealand.
I do — Barry Grottis, and there is no team behind the website. You talk to the person who designs, builds, and maintains your site. I have been building websites since 2011, and I built the automated pipeline that produces the free concepts.
