Most agencies sell you one thing.
A website is a commodity. What makes a business hard to replace is owning the whole path a customer takes — from finding you, to trusting you, to turning up, to coming back. That is what these steps are for, and that is why they run in this order.
Seven moments that decide the sale
Almost every lost enquiry fails at one of these. Each step below exists to fix the moment before it becomes a lost customer.
Found
Someone finds you — on Google, in a map result, or by asking an AI assistant which business to use.
Asked
They reach your site with a real question. Most are trying to work out whether you are the right fit, and whether you even exist.
Answered
They get a straight answer at the time they are ready to decide — not a contact form that goes nowhere.
Followed up
If they are not ready yet, the enquiry does not quietly disappear. It gets followed up properly.
Shown up
The job gets booked and the appointment actually happens. Reminders, confirmations, and the details they need.
Came back
The business remembers them — reminders, re-engagement, and the small things that bring a customer back.
Told others
Good work turns into reviews and referrals. This is the cheapest acquisition channel there is, and it compounds.
Most businesses fix step one and then wonder why nothing changes. Fixing them in sequence is the whole point.
What each step actually does
I have labelled each one honestly. Where something is still being built, it says so — I would rather turn away work I cannot do properly than take it and disappoint you later.
Free Concept Website
Free — start hereA real concept website, built from your public information, reviewed privately by you.
The entry point. I build a working concept site using information that is already publicly available about your business, host it on a private link, and you tell me what to change. You are not committing to anything.

Available nowLive, secure, and kept current — hosting, domain, updates, backups, and content changes.
Where most engagements begin. Your site goes live on managed hosting with a domain you own, and I handle the ongoing work: updates, security patches, backups, performance, and content changes when you need them.

Available nowBe findable when people search — and answerable when they ask an AI assistant instead.
Customers increasingly ask assistants for recommendations rather than typing searches. This step makes sure your business can be found and accurately described in both places: technical foundations, honest factual content, consistent business details, and measurement of where AI referrals actually come from.

In build — pilot places openA website assistant that answers real questions, captures the enquiry, and hands over to you.
An assistant on your own site that knows your services, answers common questions, collects the details of people who are ready to talk, and hands off to a human rather than pretending. Being built now — I am looking for one Christchurch pilot business.
Discuss a pilotMissed-Enquiry Follow-up
In build — pilot places openTurn every enquiry into a booked job instead of a lost one.
Most enquiries do not get an answer straight away, and the ones that do not answered at all are the expensive ones. This step builds the follow-up: fast acknowledgement, qualification, booking, reminders, and re-engagement of the people who enquired and went quiet. Being built now — pilot places open.

Available nowPortals, dashboards, mobile apps, and internal tools built around how your business actually works.
When off-the-shelf tools do not fit, I build the thing itself: customer portals, staff dashboards, mobile apps, booking systems, and integrations between the software you already use. CookTwo, the membership and booking platform, is a working example.

Available nowScheduled research, reporting, and document work that used to eat your week.
Assistants that work inside your business rather than on your website: scheduled research and reporting, document processing, knowledge search across your own material, and the automation that ties systems together. This is the same pipeline that builds the free concept sites.

Via partners — only after step 4Advertising that only makes sense once everything above it is working.
Deliberately last. Sending traffic into a site that cannot answer, cannot capture an enquiry, and cannot follow up just wastes the spend. Once steps zero to four are working, targeted campaigns have something worth sending people to. Available through trusted partners rather than sold as a Byte Digital service.
Not sold by Byte Digital. Ask me who I would trust to run it.
Why is marketing last? Because sending paid traffic into a site that cannot answer, cannot capture an enquiry, and cannot follow up just burns the budget. By the time step seven is worth doing, steps zero to four are already working — which is the only reason advertising is worth paying for.
Here are the answers to the things Christchurch business owners ask us most about web design, SEO, and digital marketing.
No, and you are not going to be sold the whole thing. The free concept exists precisely so that neither of us is committing before you have seen real work. If all you need is a free concept and the files, that is a complete outcome.
Because the first thing is nearly free for me to produce. I built the pipeline that generates these sites to run my own work, so a concept costs me some compute and a few minutes of review. Spending that to learn whether we are a fit is a much better use of it than a sales call.
That is fine. They are separate services and you can take one on its own. Plenty of people come to me already having a website and only want the visibility work, or already have a CRM and only want the follow-up built.
Some of it is, and some of it is not. The internal assistants and the build pipeline are running now. The website customer-service assistant and the missed-enquiry follow-up system are still being finished, and I label them as in build on this site rather than pretending otherwise. I am looking for one pilot business for each.
Yes. I am Christchurch-based, which is why the local pages here are genuinely specific rather than generic. But the work is remote and I take on businesses across New Zealand. The free concept works exactly the same way regardless of where you are.

No quote, no proposal, no obligation. Tell me your business and I will build you a working concept on a private link, so you can judge the work instead of the pitch. If you want the files afterwards, they are yours.
